Research versus hands-on testing
Most articles are research-based buying guides. We compare published specifications, materials, care instructions, warranty terms, and retailer policies. We describe hands-on testing only where we can document actual first-hand use for that product.
Scoring criteria
Research evaluates what the manufacturer claims, how features compare, the disclosed materials and construction, replacement parts, warranty, and whether the asking price appears reasonable. These are editorial comparisons, not laboratory test results.
Editorial independence
We may earn a commission on some purchases made through this site. That relationship never determines a ranking or a rating — products that don't perform get told so plainly, commission or not. See our full affiliate disclosure.
Sourcing
We aim to disclose any manufacturer-provided review samples or other material relationships on the relevant page. If a review does not clearly identify first-hand testing, treat it as a research-based recommendation.
Updates
Roundups get revisited periodically as new products enter a category or existing ones change. Dates on each page reflect the last substantive review pass.
